2026 National Hangeul Museum Calendar: 100th Anniversary of Hunmaengjeongeum

2026년을 맞아 국립한글박물관과 함께 모두가 보고 느끼고 이해할 수 있는 달력을 만들었습니다. 2026년은 송암 박두성 선생이 1926년 최초로 만든 한글 점자 체계인 「훈맹정음」이 반포된 지 100주년이 되는 해입니다. 시각장애인이 한글을 쉽게 익힐 수 있도록 만든 100년 전 「훈맹정음」의 포용 정신을 따라, 우리는 작은 점들로 이루어진 그림과 글자가 가득한 달력을 제작했습니다. 시각장애인은 점자를 손끝으로 따라가며 1년의 날들과 계절을 느끼고, 비장애인은 점의 나열과 리듬을 보며 ‘촉각을 시각적으로 느끼는’ 새로운 경험을 합니다. 대부분의 시각장애인이 잔존 시력을 가졌다는 점을 고려하여, 이미지와 색의 기쁨을 온전히 전하고자 달력 전체를 형광 별색을 혼합해 인쇄했습니다. 흐릿하지만 동시에 선명한 색과 이미지들은 시각장애인과 비장애인의 감각을 교차시키고 서로의 세계를 가늠해 보게 합니다. 👁️✋🏻🌟

In collaboration with the National Hangeul Museum, we created a calendar for 2026 that everyone can see, feel, and understand. This year marks the centennial of Hunmaengjeongeum, the first Hangeul braille system established by Park Du-seong in 1926. Following the inclusive spirit of a century ago, we designed a calendar where illustrations and letters are composed of delicate dots. While the visually impaired trace the braille to feel the flow of days and seasons, the sighted engage in a new experience of "visually perceiving tactile rhythms." Recognizing that many visually impaired individuals retain residual vision, we used vibrant fluorescent spot colors to fully share the joy of imagery. These blurred yet vivid colors invite the senses of both the sighted and the visually impaired to intersect, offering a glimpse into one another's worlds. 👁️✋🏻🌟
