Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival 2026: Space Enter Shift

홍콩 M+ 미술관에서 개최하는 아시아 아방가르드 영화제 2026(AAGFF)의 비주얼 아이덴티티를 디자인했습니다. 이번 영화제는 지난 60년간 아시아의 예술적 지형을 형성해 온 무빙 이미지 실천을 기념하고, 주류 예술의 틀을 벗어나 독자적인 세계를 구축해 온 실험적 작업들을 조명합니다.
    보이어는 메인 테마인 ‘공간’을 여러 차원의 중첩과 연결로 재해석했습니다. 공간이 그것을 바라보는 ‘주체의 시선’에 따라 다르게 인식된다는 점에 착안해, 공간을 탐색하는 시선들을 화면 중앙의 작은 그래픽 심볼들로 구현했습니다. 이 심볼들은 각기 다른 형태를 지녔지만 원형으로 회전하는 공통의 움직임을 공유하며, 아방가르드 영화 특유의 역동적인 ‘영화적 시선’과 주체적인 탐구 정신을 보여줍니다.
    배경 그래픽은 우주, 바다, 들판 같은 사실적인 자연 풍경을 비현실적인 평면으로 전환하여 다차원적 공간을 표현했습니다. 그 위에 공간을 가로지르는 궤적, 경계, 통로를 연상시키는 추상적 요소들을 배치함으로써, 물리적인 공간 위에 겹쳐진 비물리적 차원을 드러내고 경계를 넘나드는 연결과 통과의 순간을 시각화했습니다. 🎥👀🏝️

We designed the visual identity for the Asia Avant-Garde Film Festival 2026 (AAGFF) at M+ in Hong Kong. The festival celebrates 60 years of Asian moving image practices, highlighting experimental works that build independent worlds outside mainstream art frameworks.
    BOWYER reinterpreted the theme, ‘Space,’ through multidimensional overlap and connection. Rooted in how space shifts with the ‘gaze of the subject,’ we translated these exploring perspectives into small graphic symbols at the center. While taking various forms, they share a circular rotation, embodying the dynamic ‘cinematic gaze’ and the spirit of avant-garde inquiry.
    The background graphics transform natural landscapes—the cosmos, sea, and fields—into surreal planes. By overlaying abstract elements that evoke traces, boundaries, and passages, we superimpose a non-physical dimension onto physical space, visualizing moments of connection that cross boundaries. 🎥👀🏝️
