PLAVE: The Children of ASTERUM
버추얼 보이그룹 PLAVE의 아카이브북 『PLAVE: The Children of ASTERUM』을 디자인했습니다. 데뷔부터 현재까지 공개된 플레이브의 세계관과 비주얼 아트를 총망라한 이번 아카이브북에서, 보이어는 책의 전체적인 비주얼 컨셉을 구상하고 흩어져 있던 정보와 콘텐츠를 하나의 완결된 서사로 시각화하는 역할을 담당했습니다.
특히 지금까지의 플레이브의 여정을 ‘꿈을 현실로 만들어가는 이야기’로 해석하고, 실제와 환상이 겹쳐지며 드러나는 새로운 세계—플레이브 코스모스의 거대한 서사를 몰입감 있게 드러내는 것을 주요 디자인 목표로 삼았습니다. 이에 가상의 세계관이 마치 현실에 존재하는 듯한 인상을 주기 위해, 대중 과학 교양서에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 내지 레이아웃을 차용하여 사실과 가상의 경계를 흐렸으며, 동시에 이 세계가 아주 오래전부터 존재했던 것 같은 느낌을 주기 위해 고서의 장식적인 레이아웃과 세밀한 도판 요소를 표지와 내지 일러스트에 활용해, 세계관에 서사적 사실감과 신비로운 환상성을 불어넣었습니다. 팬들의 사랑으로 현실화된 플레이브의 꿈과 세계가 다시 한번 이 책을 통해 보다 선명한 모습으로 팬들에게 다가가는 의미 있는 계기가 되길 바랍니다. 🌌💫
We designed the archive book PLAVE: The Children of ASTERUM for the virtual boy group PLAVE. Encompassing PLAVE’s universe and visual art from debut to present, BOWYER directed the overall visual concept, weaving scattered content into a single cohesive narrative.
Interpreting PLAVE’s journey as ‘a story of turning dreams into reality,’ our primary goal was to immersively reveal the vast narrative of the PLAVE Cosmos—where reality and fantasy overlap. To give this virtual universe a tangible presence, we borrowed layout conventions from popular science books, blurring boundaries between fact and fiction. Simultaneously, decorative layouts and intricate plate illustrations inspired by antique books were incorporated across the cover and inside pages, imbuing the world with narrative realism and mystical fantasy. 🌌💫
